FLU & Covid Vaccinations

Covid Vaccination Booster Autumn 23
COVID VACCINES AUTUMN 2023
We are awaiting correspondance from Public health Agency on when we can order Covid Vaccines. We will update our practice website when we get more information. PLEASE DO NOT PHONE THE HEALTH CENTRE.
We will be vaccinating anyone over the age of 65 and those under 65 in a clinical risk group (see link)
This year we will be sending out Accurx text messages for patients to self book into the clinics via a text message, this proved to be very successful last night. As always make sure your mobile number is up-to-date on our clinical records. Clinics will also be Held in the 'Parish Church Hall' like previous years. The COVID and FLU vaccination will both be offered together, or if you prefer to only get one vaccine that is also fine.

SPRING COVID BOOSTER 2023
We have been receiving lots of common queries regarding the current vaccination programme. Please find some information below which should hopefully answer any questions you have, and save you any frustration trying to get through on the phone lines.
We are currently calling all eligible patients for their Covid booster vaccinations. Patients are being invited via a self book system via text, and if not booked following a text a follow up call is being made.
All patients 75 years and older will be called along with all clinically vulnerable patients 18-74 years old.
This is a large volume of patients and we have to balance our GP and nursing resources to ensure we can run large clinics as well as having staff available for general medical appointments. We are also reliant on Public Health providing vaccines, which they are currently releasing in batches every few weeks- which obviously determines when clinics can be booked.
Thank you for your patience.

Covid and Flu clinics September 2022
We will using a text based booking system via Accurx (accu book) this year. You must have a mobile with a up-to-date number on our records. We will text you the link which you can select and book yourself into a time slot that suits you. We will be offering both the flu and Covid vaccination together on the same day. There are a number of patients who declined all correspondance with the practce via text, they will not be able to avail of this service.
We have vaccinated the over 80's and are currently vaccinating patients aged 70 to 79. We will then be sending for patients under 70. Please DO NOT contact the health centre. WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH YOU WHEN ITS YOUR TURN TO BE VACCINATED. please be aware the texts are genuine and are from the health centre.
We are in the process of planning this Winter’s vaccination programme. We are currently awaiting confirmation from Public Health of what vaccine will be available and expected delivery dates. Once we have this information we will be organising clinic dates, and will be inviting all patients over 50 years old and those between 18-49 years old who are clinically vulnerable to come forward for both a Covid and Flu vaccination. Due to the volume of patients to be vaccinated we will be starting with the clinically vulnerable and those aged over 75, then working our way down through the age groups. Please wait for your invitation to a clinic. As soon as we have more information we will be in contact.
980 Over 75’s vaccinated by the Health Centre on the 26/04/2022- That’s a record!!
We had planned for around 700 patients to be vaccinated- so thank you to everyone who came along, or brought relatives along.
Also a massive thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as we carried out the vaccination clinic- traffic on the roads surrounding the Church were very busy and we apologise for any inconvenience.
There are no further planned large scale booster clinics at the moment, however for those 75 and over that didnt get their vaccine, we have catch up clinics at the health on Thursday 5th of May and Thursday 12th of May. Please phone 07546251996 or 07546251993 to make an appointment.
COVID BOOSTER APRIL 22
The health centre will be vaccinating those 75 and OVER . If you are under 75 vaccination clinics will be organised by the trust / hospitals.
We will be contacting those 75 and over either by text or phone to invite you to a clinic at DONAGHADEE PARISH CHURCH HALL in April.
PLEASE DO NOT PHONE THE HEALTH CENTRE.
Please do not attend if you are unwell, have symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have been told to isolate. Please wear a mask and short sleeves if possible.
COVID-19 Booster Vaccination
As you can hopefully appreciate, this is a very complex vaccination programme.
We will have little flexibility in offering alternative dates for COVID-19 booster and would ask that you try to attend if at all possible.
Circumstances when COVID-19 booster should be delayed would be;
- If you are within 4 weeks of a positive COVID-19 infection.
- If you are unwell with a severe feverish illness (note mild illnesses including mild urinary infection would not preclude vaccination)
We will ask you about any severe reactions to previous vaccines or medication (for example anaphylaxis to laxatives or depot steroid injections).
Please click on the DOH booklet 'Your guide to booster vaccination' for more detail.

Please continue to refer regularly to our news feed for latest information on clinics being offered. Having read all our information, if you still have queries relating to COVID-19 booster vaccination, please phone the Practice in the afternoon only. We must keep our telephone lines open in the mornings for medical advice.
Please DO NOT phone the health centre. Our website will be updated with the latest information.
Vaccination is the most important thing you can do to protect your community against serious illnesses. When enough people get vaccinated, it is harder for a disease to spread to those who cannot have vaccines.
If you already have a date for your 2nd dose at the Health Centre (this is on the vaccine recording card you were given), please attend as planned.
We have been advised to pause calling patients to the Health Centre for 1st doses.
